Spring in Bonn: A sea full of cherry blossoms

18. April 2023

During the past easter holidays, spring has sprung in the city of Bonn. Like every year, an incredibly beautiful phenomenon is currently taking place in the old town, which is especially recognized by the city: The bloom of the Japanese cherry blossom trees that have been planted throughout the city during the late 80ies to create a more colorful city scape. Today, every year, a great number of people are streaming into the old town to catch a glimpse or take a picture of the blossoms during their quite short blossoming of 2 weeks. To enable this for as many people as possible, the city of Bonn is closing the streets of the area “Heerstraße” between “Kölnstraße” and “Vorgebirgsstraße” for cars (except for residents & suppliers) on three weekends during the blossoming. The next date is the upcoming weekend on April 22nd & 23rd.

This magical scenery is also happing at the “Professor-Neu-Allee” in the district of “Beuel”, at the “Heinrich-Heine-Straße” and the “Rilkestraße”, as well as in Bad Godesberg in the street of “Am Lenkert".
