Open Monument Day at the Haxenhaus zum Rheingarten on Sunday, September 11th, 2022!

September 11th, 2022 - An "open house" celebration of historical monuments

Cultural evidence. A case for the protection of historical monuments. 

The Tavern next to the Rhine is one of the oldest builidings in the old town of Cologne, whose history is traceable 800 years back in time! It was build from the same stone as the famous Cologne Cathedral, its base was made from basalt stone originating from the Eifel, as well as tachyte from the Drachenfels. The historical monuments' walls and the fountain are still conserved from the Romantic era, the historic ceiling and the wooden staircase from the 18th century can still be found as cultural evidence inside the restaurants' dining area. 

On Sunday, September 11th, 2022 the Haxenhaus opens its doors from 10.30am – 5.30pm and welcomes you to take a journey through its impressive history!

Tours are taking place at 10.30 am, 12.30 pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm and will be 45 minutes long each.
